PM Speech at the Inauguration of Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple in Navi Mumbai

Hare Krishna – Hare Krishna!

Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, the beloved Chief Minister Shri Deva Bhau, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, revered Guru Prasad Swami Ji, Hema Malini Ji, all respected guests, devotees, brothers, and sisters,

Today, we gather on this sacred land of knowledge and devotion to Inauguration the Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohanji Temple, an endeavor by ISKCON. I am deeply honored to play a role in this divine event. This is a manifestation of the immense love and affection of the ISKCON saints, guided by the blessings of Srila Prabhupada Swami. I express my gratitude to all the revered saints and bow to them in respect.

I had the opportunity to see the grand design of this temple. The architecture reflects the spiritual tradition and wisdom of our culture. The temple includes representations of various deities, reflecting our core belief ‘Eko Aham Bahu Syam’, the oneness of the divine in many forms. They are building a museum here to depict the Ramayana and Mahabharata and cater to the interests of the younger generation.Additionally, developers are creating a garden inspired by the 12 forests of Vrindavan.I am confident that this temple will become a vital center for the enrichment of India’s consciousness and spiritual faith.

I congratulate the saints, ISKCON members, and the people of Maharashtra for this noble effort.

Remembering Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj

Today, I also fondly remember the esteemed Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj, whose vision is deeply linked with this project. His immense devotion to Lord Krishna is the guiding force behind this temple. Though he is no longer with us in physical form, his spiritual presence continues to inspire us. I fondly recall when he invited me for the release of the world’s largest Gita, a moment that remains in my heart. I am satisfied to witness another of his dreams being fulfilled today.

Srila Prabhupada’s Legacy

The global community of ISKCON followers is united by their devotion to Lord Krishna. Another unifying thread is the legacy of Srila Prabhupada Swami, whose teachings continue to inspire devotees worldwide. Srila Prabhupada propagated the Vedas, Vedanta, and the Bhagavad Gita at a time when India was under colonial rule. His mission to connect Bhakti and Vedanta with the common people led to the creation of ISKCON. At the age of 70, when most would retire, Srila Prabhupada traveled the world, spreading Lord Krishna’s message. Today, millions are blessed by his tireless efforts.

India’s Spiritual Essence

India is a land of extraordinary spirituality. It is not merely a piece of land bound by geography, but a living culture that thrives through its spirituality. To truly understand India, one must embrace its spiritual essence. Saints like Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Bengal, Sant Namdev, Tukaram, and Dnyandev in Maharashtra, have all played significant roles in spreading devotion to Krishna. Despite the differences in time, language, and methods, their message remains the same. They have illuminated society with the light of devotion, transforming lives and giving direction to millions.

Service and Spiritual Culture

At the heart of our spiritual culture is the spirit of service. True service, as Shri Krishna explains in the Bhagavad Gita, is devoid of selfish motives. This spirit of service connects seekers with society and cultivates compassion. ISKCON, through its efforts in education, healthcare, and environmental initiatives, embodies this service-oriented philosophy.

I am pleased to see our government working with the same dedication and spirit of service for the welfare of our citizens. From providing sanitation facilities to every home, offering Ujjwala gas connections, ensuring tap water access to all households, and extending free healthcare to the poor, these efforts reflect our commitment to social justice. This spirit of service is true secularism and a testament to India’s great cultural tradition.
