Celebrating NCC Cadets and Achievements

Being part of the Republic Day Parade is a moment of pride and an achievement in itself. This year’s parade was extra special as it marked the 75th year of our Republic. These memories will remain etched in your hearts forever.

Congratulations to those who received the Best Cadet Award. Your hard work and discipline are inspiring. Recently, I flagged off many NCC missions, which beautifully connect India’s glorious heritage with the aspirations of its youth. I wish the best to all the cadets involved in these missions.

NCC’s Journey and Expansion

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) was established during India’s independence era. Since then, it has grown alongside the Republic, instilling values of discipline, responsibility, and patriotism among the youth. NCC has consistently inspired young Indians to contribute to nation-building.

In recent years, the government has worked extensively to enhance the scope and responsibilities of NCC. For instance:

  • Expansion to Border Areas: NCC is now active in over 170 border talukas and 100 coastal talukas.
  • Special Training by Armed Forces: Thousands of youth in these areas are being trained by the three branches of the armed forces.
  • Increase in Cadet Numbers: The number of NCC cadets has grown from 14 lakh in 2014 to over 20 lakh today, with 8 lakh girl cadets, showcasing the growing participation of our daughters.

NCC is not only shaping the youth but is also playing a vital role in disaster management, excelling in sports, and creating a strong identity for itself as the world’s largest uniformed youth organization.

India’s Youth: A Force for Global Good

The youth of India are not just a strength for the nation but are also contributing significantly to the global good. The world is recognizing this now more than ever.

Some key highlights of India’s youth achievements include:

  • Creation of 1.5 lakh startups and over 100 unicorns in the last decade.
  • Leadership of 200+ global companies by individuals of Indian origin.
  • Contributions of Indian scientists, researchers, and teachers to the progress of the world.

India’s youth are shaping the future of the world with their talent, innovation, and determination. This makes them a global force for good.

Empowering Youth by Removing Barriers

Over the past 10 years, the government has worked to eliminate hurdles faced by the youth, making it easier for them to achieve their goals.

  1. Self-Attestation of Documents
Earlier, getting documents attested by a gazetted officer was cumbersome. Now, youth can self-attest their documents, reflecting the government’s trust in them.
  2. Streamlining Scholarships
Scholarships are now easily accessible through a single-window system, ensuring transparency and eliminating manipulation.
  3. Flexibility in Education
The National Education Policy (NEP) allows students to change their subjects mid-course, offering flexibility and catering to individual interests.
  4. Access to Loans
    • Earlier, banks demanded guarantees for loans, creating hurdles for young entrepreneurs.
    • The Mudra Yojana, launched in 2014, provides loans without a bank guarantee. The loan limit, initially ₹10 lakh, has now been increased to ₹20 lakh.
    • Over ₹40 lakh crore has been disbursed under this scheme, empowering lakhs of youth to start their businesses.

Strengthening the Electoral Process

Recently, India celebrated National Voters’ Day, highlighting the importance of voting rights. While India conducts the world’s largest elections, frequent elections have led to certain challenges, such as:

  • Administrative delays due to recurring election duties.
  • Disruption of governance and development activities.

To address this, there’s an ongoing debate on “One Nation, One Election.” The idea is to conduct simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections every five years. This will not only streamline the electoral process but also reduce disruptions in governance and public services.

Conclusion

The future of India and the world depends on the strength and determination of its youth. Through programs like NCC, government reforms, and initiatives like the Mudra Yojana and NEP, the government is committed to empowering young Indians to achieve their aspirations.

I urge all NCC cadets to continue their efforts in serving the nation, contributing to global good, and inspiring others. You are the torchbearers of a New India—one that leads the world with its talent, discipline, and values.

Jai Hind!
