In a celebratory tribute to ‘National Small Industries Day,’ Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Narayan Rane, recently shared a remarkable milestone on Twitter. Over the past nine years, the Ministry of MSME, through its 18 tool rooms and technology centers across India, has provided training to an impressive 16 lakh youth.

This endeavor has not only upskilled a significant workforce but has also directly benefited more than 3 lakh MSME units.

Shri Rane proudly affirmed that these Tool Rooms and Technology Centers, operating under the Ministry of MSME, are instrumental in realizing the vision of a self-reliant India championed by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. These centers serve as crucibles of innovation, guiding the manufacturing process of cutting-edge products.

These versatile Tool Rooms, operating under the aegis of the Ministry of MSME, are the unsung heroes of several industries. They specialize in designing and producing medium and small-sized equipment that meet international standards. These precision-crafted components find applications in a wide spectrum of sectors, including sports goods, plastics, automobiles, footwear, glass, perfumery, foundry and forging, electronics, and even the space sector. As an exemplary instance of their capabilities, the Bhubaneswar Tool Room played a pivotal role in the manufacturing of approximately 54,000 aerospace components, spanning 437 different types, for the recent Chandrayaan-3 mission.

Moreover, these Tool Rooms have risen to the occasion during challenging times. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, they swiftly adapted to meet the surging demand for essential equipment. These centers played a critical role in manufacturing personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, sanitizer machines, oxygen concentrators, and their subsequent export to foreign countries. This remarkable feat stands as a testament to their resilience and dedication.

As a harbinger of more significant developments on the horizon, Shri Narayan Rane shared that an additional 15 technology centers are currently in the pipeline. These upcoming centers are poised to bolster the MSME sector further, underlining the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to fostering growth and innovation within the country.

In summary, the journey of the MSME Tool Rooms and Technology Centers is a testament to the transformative power of skill development and innovation. As they continue to empower India’s youth and support the growth of MSME units, they stand as beacons of progress and self-reliance in alignment with the nation’s vision. These centers not only equip individuals with valuable skills but also contribute significantly to various industries, ensuring that India remains at the forefront of innovation and self-sufficiency. With the expansion of technology centers on the horizon, the future holds even greater promise for the Indian MSME sector.
