The Indian Army and the Indian Navy have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on affiliation aimed at strengthening inter-service cooperation, operational coordination, and joint military capabilities.
The agreement has been signed as part of the armed forces’ broader efforts to enhance synergy among the three services and improve preparedness for modern warfare and integrated operations. Officials stated that the affiliation framework will promote mutual understanding, joint training, exchange of best practices, and professional collaboration between the Army and Navy units.
According to defence officials, the partnership will facilitate closer interaction through training programmes, operational exposure visits, sports activities, and cultural exchanges. The initiative is expected to help personnel gain better knowledge of each other’s operational environments and strategic responsibilities.
The MoA also reflects India’s focus on integrated theatre concepts and jointness among the armed forces. Military experts believe such collaborations are essential for improving coordination during national security operations, humanitarian missions, and disaster response activities.
Senior officers from both services highlighted that inter-service cooperation strengthens combat readiness and contributes to building a more efficient and modern defence structure. They noted that the affiliation would encourage exchange of operational experiences and leadership practices between personnel of the two forces.
The Indian Army and Indian Navy have been actively working towards improving joint operational capabilities through integrated exercises, strategic coordination, and modernization initiatives. The latest agreement is considered another important step towards achieving greater military integration and national defence preparedness.
Officials added that the collaboration will further strengthen camaraderie and institutional ties between the two services while supporting the vision of integrated defence reforms in the country.
