The Yoga Mahotsav is being organized as a curtain-raiser event ahead of the International Day of Yoga, observed globally every year on June 21. The Ministry of Ayush, along with state authorities and yoga institutions, has been actively promoting yoga across the country as part of the countdown activities leading up to International Day of Yoga 2026. This year’s celebrations are expected to focus on spreading awareness about preventive healthcare, stress management, mental well-being, and the importance of integrating yoga into daily life.

Telangana has emerged as one of the active participants in promoting yoga and wellness initiatives in recent years. The International Day of Yoga, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and adopted by the United Nations in 2014, has grown into a global movement promoting physical fitness, mindfulness, and balanced living. Every year, millions of people across countries participate in yoga events and collective sessions to mark the occasion.

Officials associated with the event stated that yoga has become an important tool for improving overall health and enhancing mental resilience, especially in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. Experts believe that regular yoga practice can help reduce stress, improve concentration, increase flexibility, and support emotional well-being.

As part of the Yoga Mahotsav celebrations, participants are also expected to take part in workshops on meditation, breathing techniques, and healthy lifestyle practices. Cultural programmes and awareness campaigns highlighting India’s ancient yoga heritage may also be organized during the event.
