PRARAMBH 2026” Awareness Campaign Rolled Out by Income Tax Department Across Cities

The Income Tax Department has launched “PRARAMBH 2026”, a nationwide outreach and awareness programme aimed at educating taxpayers about the new Income Tax Act, 2025 and Income Tax Rules, 2026. The initiative is being organized in multiple cities across India to simplify tax compliance and improve public understanding of the new taxation framework.

The programme was formally launched by Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi as part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize and digitize India’s tax administration system. The campaign focuses on making tax laws easier to understand while encouraging voluntary tax compliance among citizens and businesses.

Under the PRARAMBH 2026 initiative, the Income Tax Department is conducting workshops, seminars, awareness drives, and interactive sessions with taxpayers, professionals, students, and business communities. Officials stated that the campaign is intended to help citizens understand the provisions of the new Income Tax Act, which came into effect from April 1, 2026.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has also introduced multilingual educational material, FAQs, brochures, tutorial videos, and online assistance platforms to support taxpayers. As part of the initiative, the department launched an AI-powered chatbot named “Kar Saathi” to provide instant guidance related to tax filing and compliance services.

According to senior officials, the new tax law has been designed to reduce complexity, improve transparency, and build greater trust between taxpayers and the government. The outreach programme is expected to reach both urban and rural regions through large-scale public engagement activities.

Officials informed that PRARAMBH stands for “Policy Reform and Responsible Action for Mission Viksit Bharat.” The initiative reflects the government’s vision of creating a technology-driven and citizen-friendly taxation system in the country.

The Income Tax Department stated that the awareness campaign will continue throughout the year with hundreds of workshops and educational programmes planned across India to ensure smooth adoption of the new tax reforms.
