Who Is Maninder Kaur Dwivedi? Senior IAS Officer Gets Extension as Additional Secretary in Agriculture Ministry

Maninder Kaur Dwivedi IAS has once again come into the spotlight after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved an extension of her tenure as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. According to official reports, her tenure has been extended for two more years beyond August 31, 2026, and will now continue up to August 31, 2028.

Maninder Kaur Dwivedi is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to the 1995 batch of the Chhattisgarh cadre. Over the years, she has served in several important administrative and policy-making roles both at the state and central government levels. She is known for her experience in governance, agriculture administration, rural development, and public policy implementation.

Before serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, she held significant positions in various government departments. She also served as Managing Director of the Small Farmers’ Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC), an organization focused on supporting farmers, agribusiness initiatives, and agricultural entrepreneurship in India.

In addition to her responsibilities in the Agriculture Ministry, Maninder Kaur Dwivedi was also given additional charge as Commissioner of the National Educational Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) in 2024. The appointment reflected the government’s confidence in her administrative capabilities and leadership experience.

Officials say the extension granted to Maninder Kaur Dwivedi IAS is aimed at ensuring continuity in important agricultural and farmer welfare initiatives currently being implemented by the central government. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare plays a key role in policymaking related to farming, crop development, agricultural schemes, digital agriculture, rural support systems, and farmer welfare programs across the country.

India’s agriculture sector remains one of the most important pillars of the national economy, employing a large section of the population and contributing significantly to food security. Senior officers in the ministry are responsible for coordinating agricultural reforms, policy implementation, budget planning, and central schemes linked to farmers and rural development.

According to administrative reports, Maninder Kaur Dwivedi has been associated with several policy and governance initiatives connected to agricultural modernization and institutional management. Her continued role in the ministry is expected to support ongoing government programs related to digital farming, sustainable agriculture, agri-infrastructure, and farmer-centric reforms.

The extension order is part of a broader set of appointments and tenure extensions approved recently for senior bureaucrats serving in different ministries and departments of the Government of India.

With her extended tenure, Maninder Kaur Dwivedi IAS is expected to continue contributing to policy execution and strategic planning within the Agriculture Ministry as India focuses on agricultural growth, rural welfare, and modernization of the farming sector.
